Rooibos soap with Shea-Butter Rooibos is a shrub which reaches up to two metres. It is reddish-brown in colour and has needle-like leaves and yellow pea-like flowers which are in blossom from October to December. The plant is mainly cultivated in the West Cape Province. Rooibos is not only used as warm drink but also as ice tea and health drink. It has proven anti-allergy properties and is rich in anti-oxidants which boost the immune system and help to slow down the ageing process. It is also ideal for use on sensitive skin and for the treatment of eczema and other skin problems.
Shea Butter has been used in Africa for centuries. It is extracted from the fruits of the shea tree in tropical Africa. The shea nuts are harvested once a year. After harvesting the kernels of the nuts are squeezed and cooked. This produces the shea butter. It helps to protect the skin and make it smooth. In Africa shea butter is traditionally used for skin care, rheumatism, muscle and joint pain as well as baby care. The combination of Shea and Rooibos in this handmade soap results in a lather which keeps the skin soft and moist.
By buying this product you help to support projects of the Moravian Church in South Africa, among others schools for spastic children (in Elim) and deaf-mute children (in Sive, nearby Durban).
